This Mother’s Day, Give Yourself the Gift of Grace
Motherhood is one of the most beautiful, soul-stretching experiences on this earth—and also one of the hardest. We celebrate Mother’s Day by honoring the women who raise us, nurture us, and hold everything together with love, creativity, and tireless effort. But here’s a reminder you might need this year:
You don’t have to hold it all together perfectly.
You don’t have to do it all.
You don’t have to be everything to everyone.
You’re allowed to give yourself grace.
Grace for the mornings you wake up exhausted and just go through the motions. Grace for the moments you lose your temper or forget the field trip form or serve cereal for dinner. Grace for the times you cry in the car or feel like you’re failing. Grace for not always loving every second of it.
We live in a world that constantly tells mothers to do more, be more, and keep smiling while doing it. But motherhood was never meant to be performed—it was meant to be lived. Fully, imperfectly, and with an open heart.
So this Mother’s Day, take a breath. Give yourself the same compassion you’d give your child. Celebrate what you have done, not just what you haven’t gotten to yet. Let your imperfections be part of your beauty.
Whether you’re a new mom in the thick of sleepless nights, a seasoned mom balancing teens and independence, or a mom figuring out life after the nest empties—grace belongs to you.
This Mother’s Day, let’s make room for it. Grace over guilt. Presence over perfection. Love over pressure.
You are enough. And you’re doing better than you think.
Love,
Lindsay
This was probably 10 years ago, but one of my favorite pictures of my boys and me-cuddled up in my lap after a family meal. We were full and happy. Notice the chocolate on Wyatt’s face! :-)
